A lot has been written about the need to define your “Target Market” before you begin your marketing efforts.

I, personally, have never liked the phrase, “Target Market” because who wants to be somebody’s target anyway? It sounds so impersonal.

As a business owner, what it means is you are deciding who you want to aim you marketing efforts at. They are your target because they are people likely to buy your product or service.

Until NOW I have not even liked using the term “Target Market.” Then suddenly it all changed for me.

Consider this: You are also their target– because they are searching for you and what you have. Yes your target market is targeting you just as you are targeting them.

I went through Anthony Hamilton’s free online mini-course, “How To Get What You Want”, I was impressed with his grasp of the Law of Attraction. As a certified LOA Coach/Trainer I recognized his fresh insights and new ways of looking at the reality of a universal Law that is working in and around all of us– whether we believe it or not.

Then I became aware of his new book, Mind, Time and Power I delighted in his explanation of mental time travel. Here is an excerpt from his book:

There are many worlds. We each create our own. Your frame of reference is your choice. You are free to choose the laws of your world. You are free to choose the meaning of every event. Whether anything is positive or negative is a matter of perspective. You are free to choose the overall pattern of your life and choose what your life will ultimately mean.

Your physical present sits between a spectrum of virtual pasts and virtual futures. It is connected equally to the past and the future.

Your past is not physical. It is a thought form. Your future is another thought form. Both contain numerous possibilities connected to your present through the medium of your mind Both affect your present as any thought form does.

Your mind has a counterpart to memory which operates in the future. With it, you are able to gather information from the future as easily as from the past.

As local search and geo based SEO became more and more important, people were beginning to have concerns about the service areas of businesses. The problem was that most of the local search results for businesses were being provided based on the physical address that they had presented.

This presented problems for a number of different reasons. Now though, the notion of a service area is becoming one that the search engines are starting to accommodate, and this small business marketing tip can make sure that the service area of your business is being reflected in how it ranks in search engines.

First of all, the problems that came from only using the physical address of a business were pretty large. Take a pizza delivery company for instance. This might sound like a little thing, but the truth is this one little tip can make a big difference.

For most of us, a lot of our traffic still comes straight from Google. If we’re looking to try and get more people in our city to start using our services, then making the most of Google Places is something that we need to be doing, and this includes defining a service area.
